...in limbo, surrounded by boxes.

Sainsbury's bags - very good for packing books in. These piles are three boxes deep.

The lack of posts here has been mostly because of a lack of things to report. Work was busy, and then last week I had a week off. I started it with flu, which Dave promptly caught, and I spent most of the rest of it not doing very much. Reading books, watching films, sleeping. On Saturday, we were granted a rare sunny day, and we had a wander in town, a charity shop rummage, a trip to our local record shop and some lunch. We made a video for Dave's band's new single (it involved me standing on a chair). The track (featuring stunning piano from Chris T-T)  is brilliant, and we are pleased with the result of the video.

And then, Sunday. It dawned on me that we move the weekend after next, and that no point in the next three weeks will Dave be at home for a whole day. And so we packed. The flat is beginning to look even more like a cell, though today the sunshine is giving it some cheer. The kitchen is bare of all but essentials, and we are trying to eat everything before we buy more food so that we don't have to take it with us. Our whole life is boxed and bagged, and several binbags of stuff have been thrown out. It feels a bit weird, like we are in-between life now and life as it will be. I worked quite hard to make this place feel cosy, and homely, and it's quite stark now.

Our official move out date is August 19th, the day before my 30th birthday. It's odd to think that as I start my 30s, I will be both making a huge change in life, and going back home.

Good luck w/ the packing! When I moved last summer I gradually packed over the 6 weeks before my move. It made it more manageable, but my place stopped feeling like 'home' and there were boxes everyone and nothing on the walls, etc. Those transitional phases can be tough.

I'm excited for this move, though! I think it will be great for you and what a great way to transition into your 30s!

Yeah, I hear you about the surrounded-by-boxes, living-in-limbo phenomenon. Going through a little of that myself. It's sad to leave old places, but it's also really nice to have a fresh start! Exciting times. :)

Nearly there with the big move then!! Good luck- played the video and wondered if thre were going to be arty shots of a girl standing on a chair. . . then realised that to film it you had to stand on the chair.

Coincidences- on the 20th I turn 31. There is exactly 1 year between us- spooky. I have never come across anyone with the same birthday.

Good luck with the big move. A huge amount of things happened the year I turned 30 (last year) - everything, whether to do with work or in my personal life, sort of magically clicked into place. May the same happen with you!

Good luck with the move lovely! Exciting stuff. You'll be home before you know it (and in time for Xmas!). I can't watch the video on my silly phone so will bookmark to watch on laptop tomorrow.

P.S 30s are awesome :-)

The move date is coming up fast, but it looks like you're ahead of the game. Wish you lots of luck, but I'll be sending you all my "smooth and easy move" vibes.

Selfishly, very glad that you are coming back to THIS side of the tracks :-)

Well, closer to this side of the tracks than where you are at the moment!

Now off to watch Dave's vido :-D
