I've moved across the country, started two different jobs, baked and cooked lots of things, slightly shoddily crafted, gone to many gigs, gotten a bit excited by things like autumn and Christmas, read many books, joined Blook club, met many lovely fellow bloggers, and written about happenings along the way. I am sometimes a bit neglectful - this post is the first one I've written in more than a week - but I try very hard not to be.
I've tried to explain the appeal of blogging to people before. It's appeal initially was almost as portable storage. I put stuff in here, and assuming the internet survives, it'll always be here. It has become so much more. I read other people's and with a some of them, have formed strong and lasting friendships (you all know who you are), from the others I get ideas and inspiration and find lovely things to cook. I feel that I am quite firmly part of a community - one full of creativity and ideas and opinions, friendship and compassion. I can't imagine a time when I won't consider this am important part of life.
I am ever so grateful to those of you who read, and comment on my wee blog. I am ever so lucky to call some of you my friends, and really mean it. I think we all have those moments where we think 'I might just stop', and knowing that even a few people are waiting to read about what's going on keeps me writing. I may not write very much that is deeply emotional, or controversial, but when something big is happening and I'm trying to process it and I can put it in here, it does me the world of good to put it into words.

Blogging is one of the things I cannot explain to my friends, I have tried and failed to describe its appeal on many occasions and am now just resigned to the fact that only other bloggers get it.
I look forward to many more years of reading your recipes and living crafts vicariously through you!
