- The lovely lady owner of the third blog link there is Siobhan. She tagged me in a meme before I went, and I promised her that I'd do it when I got back! It's no harship as Siobhan is a lovely person, and I really like answering questions!!!
This particular meme is an 'answer seven questions, ask seven questions one, so without any fanfare, here goes....
1. What do you think is your greatest achievement? (and not getting out of bed please!)
This is quite difficult. I don't think I have any really big achievements. I went through quite a hard time at a couple of points during uni, so I supposed I'd say actually leaving Uni with a degree is.
2. What song has the best memories for you?
music for me is all about what you experience while listening to it, so picking one song is really difficult! For the moment, I'll go with 'Angel's Wings' by Social Distortion, as Dave and I had it for our first dance when we got married. It's kind of our 'song', though we both love music so much we have lots.
3. If you could be anywhere else right now where would you be?
Having just got off an 11 hour bus from London this morning, I don't want to be anywhere else! I am really happy sitting on my bed with a cup of tea. If you asked me at any other point, I think I'd say Germany, as it's the main place I am desperate to visit at the moment!
4. What is your favourite book and why?
Siobhan, you write tricky questions. I love books more than most things and have lots of favourites for different reasons, The closest I can narrow down to a favourite is to three, so I'm going to cheat! Thackerey's 'Vanity Fair' because through his tale of Becky Sharp's social climbing,he tells us of the state of the nation at that time, and because I can emapthise with Becky, even though she isn't a particularly likeable character. 'Rebecca' by Daphne du Maurier, because I think it's a very true portrayal of the way love can affect people for the better or for the worse, and because it has a message of atoning for your wrongs, but also of redemption(the copy I have was my mum's, it's a hardback and it's ancient and falling apart, but I can't bear to read a new copy, so I keep taping it back together), and Little Women - which I love for it's opening line, it's deep characters, and a strong message of feminism and strong will running throughout, and because it brings with it happy memories of reading when I was little(which was fortunately very much encouraged!)
5. What is one thing that makes you really, really happy? (shamelessly stolen from Annelise)
Oh Christ, how can I answer that?! I am pretty lucky, lots of things make me really happy. Dave, reading, art, music, cooking, learning, my job. If it's to be a thing/activity rather than a person, then of all of those I think reading is the one I couldn't live without.
6. What is your favourite item of clothing and why?
Other than my wedding dress, it's either a black spotty 50's dress or the red spotty dress that inspired my blog header. I am not a small person, and in both of those i feel comfortable, and curvy rather than chubby. Also, spotty things make me happy!
7. What is your favourite past time? (mine is sleep)
Can I cheat and incorporate a few? my favourite pass time is waiting for a cake to finish baking, with a book, some tea and some good music/radio 4 in the background. If I've got that going on things are pretty perfect!
I hope you find my answers satisfactory Siobhan! My seven questions are
1. What really cheesy/bad TV programme can you not help but watch (inspired by Hannah and Serena!)
2. Siobhan asked me about my favourite book, I'd like to know what book you think is terrible, and why!
3. What does you bed linen look like?please feel free to include a photo! This is inspired by my sitting on my cosy bed!
4. What is your favourite quality in yourself (you all have them, so suck it up and pick one!)
5. This one is from Dave - What is the worst injury you have had?
6. Do you listen to the radio/podcasts often, and if yes what do you listen to?
7. If you stay in a hotel, do you take the mini bathroom toiletries home with you?(I do, the ones from our London hotel are Penhaligon's!!!!)
I'm going for new bloggy freinds here, so that I can find out more, I'd quite like everyone else to answer in the comments though!
- Heather, tagged above, has given me a blog award! Thank you Heather, I feel very proud, and I shall give the award it's own post!
- This wee blog has was two years old last week, and I now have over 50 followers! Some sort of giveaway will happen next week!
- A few other bloggy friends and I have hatched a plan(via twitter) for me to host a Christmas themed swap, for which there will be a sign up post soon!
Right, I think that's quite enough information! If you got to the end of this well done, If you want to answer the questions, hurrah and you get a gold star!

Oh fun! It was fun to learn more about you! I haven't read the books you mentioned as your faves, except Little Woman, but it was years upon years ago!
1. I can't help but watch cheesy ABC Family movies!
2. I hated The Road by Cormac McCarthy, but I am going to check out one of the books by him that you recommended to me!
3. I like clean looks... So just maybe one color? Something sort of chic I guess?
4. I am really driven - when i set my mind on something, nothing can get in my way!
5. I fractured my wrist in 3rd grade and man it hurt alot!!
6. I listen to the radio on work, but I never listen to podcasts! I didn't really even know about them to be quite honest and then another blogging friend said I must check them out... so I wlil eventually get around to doing that!
7. I don't... I usually have trouble getting the stuff I brought to fit in my suitcase, adding to it is usually not fun!
11 hours on a bus? gadzooks--i might lose my mind! thanks for sharing some tidbits about yourself, lisa-marie. :)
I love "stuff about me" things :) i love finding out more and more about people! Can't wait for your giveaway/swap luv!
1. Stuff like "America's Toughest Prisons" and "Border Patrol". Also "Four Weddings"! Anything vaguely car-crashy basically!
2. Hmm...I've read a few bumpers in my time, but to be perfectly honest I thought "Catcher In The Rye" was self-serving pseudo-intellectual mumbo-jumbo (could I have gotten more hyphens into that sentence?!)
3. It's white with big multi coloured flower-like shapes all over it. It's just out of Tesco but it made Woody and I really happy the second we saw it! I'll take a pic and show you later!
4. I'm nice to EVERYONE. I don't really have it in me to be actively unpleasant even to people I can't stand.
5. Now THIS is hard considering how many I've had! Probably when I screwed my ankle jumping over a bush. It wasn't broken (apparently) but I was on crutches for weeks and it still doesn't bend properly.
6. I don't get to listen to the radio much as I don't have one that works, but I love Classical FM, and Radios 2 and 4. Love radio plays!
7. Hellz yeah! I have a total collection of them. Some have been reeeeally nice!
Ooh, fun!
1. What really cheesy/bad TV programme can you not help but watch?
Lately, I've caught myself watching "Sister Wives", feeling the shame!
2. Siobhan asked me about my favourite book, I'd like to know what book you think is terrible, and why!
Anything written by Hemingway. His straightforward, hopeless style slowly zaps my will to live.
3. What does you bed linen look like?please feel free to include a photo! Camel colored sheets, blue coverlet, chocolate brown throw, lots of pillows with all three colors. (I have a pillow problem.)
4. What is your favourite quality in yourself (you all have them, so suck it up and pick one!) I'd have to say my hunger to learn lots of things. In fact, I don't ever want to stop learning, and I think (or at least I hope!) that makes me a better person.
5. This one is from Dave - What is the worst injury you have had? Second degree burns on my hands and arms as a child. I tripped and caught myself on a wood stove.
6. Do you listen to the radio/podcasts often, and if yes what do you listen to? I don't, but perhaps I should!
7. If you stay in a hotel, do you take the mini bathroom toiletries home with you? Um...YEAH! Isn't that part of the cost of the room?! Besides, they work so well for the 3 oz. rule at the airport!
Hi Lisa, have answered your questions over at my blog & forwarded it on to some others too....hope thats okay....trip to London sounds fab!! would dearly love to head to London to visit my little sister....we are planning for it in 2011!!!
I was tagged and I have answered my questions here:
http://rosalilium.blogspot.com/2010/10/weekend-antics-outfits-and-meme.html
Enjoy!
What really cheesy/bad TV programme can you not help but watch?
Ghost Hunters and Ghost Hunters International. It is so lame, but I cannot help myself – I have to watch it. It is sorta ironic when you consider I do not believe in ghosts, but watching these guys (and gals) go ghost hunting – it only reaffirms my beliefs and gives me a good laugh.
What book you think is terrible, and why…
I would say anything written by Ernest Hemmingway. His story-telling is insipid and his writing style is trite. I also do not appreciate the writing of Tolstoy. Anna Karenina was ludicrously melodramatic and enough to make me wish for a handful of anti-depressants.
What does you bed linen look like?
Pale green bed sheets (300 count thread); warm, fuzzy chocolate brown blanket, and a quilt that is green, orange, yellow, and pink. I love my bed linens, and I spend as much time as possible in bed. Often times, I will take an armload of work into my bedroom, crawl into bed, prop the pillows behind me, and do my work. It is like my own little island.
What is your favourite quality in yourself?
My favorite physical quality would have to be my height (I am nearly 6-foot tall). My favorite non-physical quality is my sense of humor.
What is the worst injury you have had?
I had chemical burns on my left hand and arm. It was nasty. The worst pain I have ever felt. I actually watched my skin boil.
Do you listen to the radio/podcasts often, and if yes what do you listen to?
I do not really listen to the radio or to podcasts.
If you stay in a hotel, do you take the mini bathroom toiletries home with you?
It depends… on how they smell. But, if I like the smell – you bet! They go home with me.
Ah spotty things make me happy too! Looking forward to seeing the London pics and hearing all about it, I love seeing my home city through the eyes of others, hope you loved it!
Tough questions! I love your "waiting for a cake to bake with a book and music on" answer. Couldn't agree more that is a pretty great way to spend your time! :D
Lisa D, being driven is a very good quality, and I love me some cheesy ABC type films. we have a channel here called Fiver that shows them often!
Grace, NEVER AGAIN with I do 11 hours on the bus!
Steph, as you know, I frickin love Four weddings! Your duvet sounds loooovely, and you are one of the sweetest people I know!
Lisa E, I'm going to have to investigate 'Sister Wives', and you should DEFINITELY listen to BBC Radio 4 if you are able, you'd love it. A pillow problem is a good problem to have :)
Tiffany, thank you! It's fun to fins out more about you!
Elizabeth, hurrah! It pleases me that people are willing to join in!
Pixie, I think you should read Lisa E's blog, she likes books but hates Hemmingway too! I have a 'bed island' as well!
Becky, the wee girl I look after has a coat from M&S that's navy on the outside and red with polka dots on the inside - If they did a grown up one, we'd be wearing the same coat! London post will be next week, most of my photo's are on film, so I have to have them developed first.
Zoe, that shared attitude could be why we are friends :)!
Hi there! I'm Rebecca, and I'm new to the blogging world. Thought I'd take this opportunity to say hello and introduce myself by answering your questions! I really like your blog and I'm also a nanny who likes making things and reading a lot! So here goes-
1. What really cheesy/bad TV programme can you not help but watch
There are several... I did have a hollyoaks habit until my boyfriend Andy cured me of it, by pointing out I was at least a decade too old to be watching it.
2. Siobhan asked me about my favourite book, I'd like to know what book you think is terrible, and why!
I was just thinking I'd never read a terrible book, and then remembered A level English Lit. I really didn't like Enduring Love by Ian McEvan, all I can remember is something about a hot air balloon. My dislike was probably more to do with being in college than the actual book though!
3. What does you bed linen look like?please feel free to include a photo! This is inspired by my sitting on my cosy bed!
Mine is white with blue flowers and comes complete with black cat.
4. What is your favourite quality in yourself (you all have them, so suck it up and pick one!)
I'm calm, (although enthusiastic) very good when working with children
5. This one is from Dave - What is the worst injury you have had?
I smashed my front tooth in half and fractured my jaw by opening a car door into my face. Clever.
6. Do you listen to the radio/podcasts often, and if yes what do you listen to?
I listen to Kerrang radio in my car. On Monday night it was picking up a French station, weird! My friend keeps telling me to listen to the Adam and Joe podcasts but I have yet to do so...
7. If you stay in a hotel, do you take the mini bathroom toiletries home with you?(I do, the ones from our London hotel are Penhaligon's!!!!)
Yes! My boyfriend also takes the toilet roll!
Okay - a delicious cake in the oven, a cup of tea, a good book and some music! What could be better?!
Hello and welcome Rebecca!
Husband and I, when we aren't being old people and listening to Radio 4, listen to Rock radio, which is like Kerrang but only for Scotland. I still watch Hollyoaks at random intervals, I wonder if your boyfriend would think I'm to old! Your bed, particularly the cat, sounds lovely!
Carmie, It makes me smile that that's everyone else idea of perfect too!
