...on her first 'work-it out week'

Last weekend, in a bid to be a better, healthier me, i decided to Join in with the lovely Wishcake in her Work-it-out Weekends.

This week, I have been a complete failure with regards to trying to be more healthy. I have done a good bit of walking, so I suppose I've some some excercise...

...unfortunately I balanced it with an awful lot of junk food. A few things got in the way

  • uni started again, and I was traveling at odd times, and eating random (unhealthy) snack things.
  • On Thursday, we had a 8 hour Journey to Wales in night time, which resulted in us eating a carrier bag full of rolls, sandwiches and crisps.
  • The same journey was taken back up today, resulting in KFC eating.
  • Over the weekend, we have eaten comfort foods and junk food when we could grab some, and I have only really had one balanced meal.

So, aye, failure!

my plan for this week is to try to be a bit better, although exam stress will more than likely lead me down the chocolate-crisps-and cheese route.

Next week, I go on teaching placement for 9 weeks, and will have routine days with routine eating times. This, and some planning of meals should ensure I can start off healthy and keep going!

Fingers crossed!

...is angry, and sickened.

It has been over a week since Israel broke the Cease Fire, and 2 days since they sent thousands of troops into Gaza. Today, they targeted three UN-run schools, killing at least 34 people, including children, and injuring at least 55. Israeli troops continue to target the densely populated area, which they have closed the borders to.

Surely this is something the UN should be getting involved in? More that just having 'safe areas', shouldn't they be there, helping the Palestinians - they are defenseless, they are locked in, and their hospitals are at breaking point.

At the moment, the various governments involved in the UN are 'discussing a ceasefire'. However, worryingly, but perhaps not surprisingly, the 'leader' of the UN (lets face it,our government does what America's wants), George Bush, feels that Israel is with it's rights. No political group has the right to target and kill civilians, especially not in an area so densely populated. It's quite clear that since Bush agrees with Israels actions, little will be done about this horrific situation.

It is a horrible feeling, knowing that the supposedly democratic, humane society in which you live, is doing nothing to help a defenseless society in crisis. We go about our daily lives whilst hundreds of people die and our governments - the ones with the power to change things- do nothing.

It makes me so angry I could actually scream. It makes me sick. What kind of people kill children for their own gain? What kind of people stand by idly and let it happen. It seems our governments do.

... thinks LOLcats tell the truth

True story!

... is joining Wishcake's work-it-out weekends!

Inspired by the lovely Wishcake's attempt to talk about, and do, some fit and healthy type stuff, this year, I am going to attempt to

  • tone up a bit
  • eat less junk food/snacky stuff
  • get back into a size 16 (12 in America)
  • stop thinking I look fat quite so much

Heres hoping I manage at least 1!

And good luck Wishcake!
